Not only is this one of my fave engagement sessions ever, it's with one of my fave couples ever! Meet my little sister and brother in law, and I'm extremely lucky to have siblings that are silly and laidback and fun to hang out with. So you can imagine how the morning went. Hint: it involved a lot of laughing and joking. Love you, seester and bro!

Also, I want to quickly say just how much I'm in love with this venue. It's unique. It's inspiring. It's so unconventional. Another dream venue to check off my photography list!

They make a 4 hour summer session look like a spring day, don't they? Another hour and I would've heard their whole life story! That's how laid-back and talkative this couple was! Thanks for the fun Sunday morning, Ai Lin + Marjo! Too bad the Texas heat got us in the end. You know it's getting a little too hot when talks about sangrias and mimosas and margaritas starts creeping into the photoshoot convos. At 10am! Hah! But, hey, glad to see their fun-lovin' personality still translated through in the pics despite the summer heat. Congrats again, happy couple! June 2014 will be here before y'all know it!

Lisa had expressed that their style is more on the leather-lace-whiskey kinda vibe. Which is awesome. Totally love! And different. Double love! The whole traditional nature-y bit is probably more Lisa, and because Lisa is a long-time friend, I pushed for a 2nd photoshoot to showcase more of Eric's style and personality. So here we are, at Reserve 101, a whiskey bar in EaDo Houston. Drinking whiskey and mixed cocktails at 3pm like the fine foofy foofs we are. No biggie. Little Miss Nattie wanted to come so badly and in efforts to help her out, I told her that she could borrow my ID if she ever gets carded, cuz ya know, we look alike and all. (Didn't quite fly with Lisa ... not gonna win 'World's Best Mama' with that one, eh, Lisa? LOL!) Oh well, kid, better luck in 14 years!

So this 2nd time around was so much more leisurely and, dare I say, comfortable, although these two certainly make posing in the great Texas outdoors with all it's June heat and humidity look easy! (You guys are troopers, btw!) In the comforts of a well air-conditioned room, we all talked and joked and drank and took breaks in between shooting and before we knew it - a whole hour flew by! Thanks again, Lisa + Eric, for another fun session! You guys rock!

That's Lisa. (Lisa Lisa, Bo Beesa, Leeeesa!) We used to work together at this crazy fun place called Space Center Houston as teenagers, way back when moonlighting as astronauts and working with your sibs was uber cool. Feels like a lifetime ago! Fast forward 13 years later and she's one of my biggest photography supporters since day one! The first photoshoot I've done for Lisa was a family session with her and her then 4 year old Nattie a few years ago. At that time, Lisa wanted pics to be sent out as Christmas cards and gave me full creative control, which I undoubtedly ran away with. I put reindeer ears on Little Miss Nattie, had her decorate gingerbread houses, dressed her up in a frou-frou pink ballerina dress, posed her with bff Pablo the Min Pin. Yah, you name it. So imagine how honored I was when Lisa asked me again to do another photoshoot for her ... this time her engagement! Muchas gracias Lisa, Little Lisa and Mr. Lisa (It is what it is - right, Lisa? Hah!) Y'all are the bestest!

By the way, I like this Eric dude. He's a whiskey connoisseur, foodie enthusiast, bow tie wearin', boot scootin' kind of guy. Anybody that quirky for a lawyer is a keeper! Can NOT wait til February 2015 - lovin' the personal wedding touches these two have in mind. Customized whiskey bar?? I'm so there!!

Engagement // Liz + Lance

More re-edits from past photoshoots! This time from early 2011. For some reason the vintage touch didn't quite work with these batch of engagement visuals, so I, instead, just toned things down from the previous editing done 2 years ago. Less contrast. Less brightness. Less vibrance. Less is more?? It certainly has made my life easier! Here's what I got:

Engagement // Anthonette + Joe

Lately I've been on a vintage editing high and just out of curiosity wanted to re-edit old work with the same vintage touch, so I dug up old engagement photos from 2010 of Anthonette + Joe and started messing around with them. These were shot with old gear, before getting my hands on the awesome 5dmII and I must say, once you go full-frame, you'll never go back!

Then there are the vivid edits that I just quite couldn't get away from. A lot of my earlier work were similar to these, but brighter, more colorful and all the way vivid, vivid, vivid! I was all about the pop and wow factor back in the day! Nowadays the edits are a bit more subdued. Must be growing up. Lol!

I like all kinds of edits and it's been really hard to stick with one signature edit when shooting for clients. I mean, I really do like it all! Oi. Can't the pix just edit themselves??
